Sydney FC sets a new stadium record for A-League non-finals football when 35,419 fans pack the stands to see Italian superstar Allessandro Del Piero make his home debut for the Sky Blues.

A stadium record rugby union Test crowd of 42,889 watch the Wallabies capture a nail-biting 20-19 win over defending Six Nations champions Wales, to complete a 3-0 series whitewash.

International Rock legends, Bon Jovi, were the first artist to play to three sell-out concerts at the SFS since its opening in 1988. The band played to over 100,000 fans over three nights - 17/18/19 December 2010.

24 February 2008

The SFS hosted its second A-League Grand final with Newcastle Jets defeating Central Coast Mariners 1-0. Jets striker Mark Bridge scored the winner in the 64th minute after Mariners defender Tony Vidmar slipped, gifting the ball to Bridge. The game ended in controversy after a Central Coast corner kick appeared to hit Jets player James Holland on the right arm, before it was cleared away. Mariners goal-keeper Danny Vukovic was then sent off for striking the arm of referee Mark Shields.

7 July 2007

 Aussie Stadium was the first Stadium concert held as part of a global seven continent, 24-hour series of Live Earth concerts on Saturday, July 7, concluding with a concert in the United States. The monumental music event brought together more than two billion people to combat the climate crisis.

December 2006

 Robbie Williams returned to Aussie Stadium for two concerts as part of his 'Close Encounters' world tour. Over 50,000 fans packed Aussie Stadium on each night, with tickets selling out within minutes.

17 May 2006

 Aussie Stadium hosts its first ever boxing match when Anthony Mundine unanimously outpointed Danny Green in the WBA super middleweight title eliminator before over 30,000 fans. The bout was the biggest grossing boxing match in Australian boxing history.

25 November 2006

A runaway try by Kangaroos skipper Darren Lockyer in the second period of extra time handed Australia a 16-12, golden-point victory over New Zealand in a thrilling Tri-Nations final. The win saw the Kangaroos regain the crown they lost to the Kiwis in 2005 final in Leeds as well as confirming Australia as the undisputed top dog in the rugby league world.

5 March 2006

Sydney FC created history when beating Central Coast Mariners 1-0 to win the inaugural A-League Grand Final before 41,689 fans. Midfielder Steve Corica scored the winning goal to enable Sydney FC captain Dwight Yorke to lift the A-League trophy in triumph.
