The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of Austalia’s most iconic and historically significant sporting venues. It accommodates 46,000 people and has played host to some of the most famous Australian sporting legends of the past 130 years. The heritage listed Members Pavilion and Ladies Pavilion, built in 1886 and 1896 respectively, are among the nation’s architectural treasures.
The SCG has provided a magnificent backdrop to many memorable sporting moments, including some of the greatest cricketing contests, the 1938 Empire Games, as well as some of the best football games played in recent decades across all codes - Rugby League, Rugby Union and AFL.
While the Trust will maintain the Members Pavilion and Ladies Pavilion for future generations to enjoy, it has progressively renewed and replaced other stands as the demands for spectator comfort and modern facilities grow. The new MA Noble and Bradman Stands have been designed as a modern pavilion, building on the traditions and heritage of the Members and Ladies Pavilions. The new dining room, club lounges and terraces overlook the proposed Sports Central Plaza and the Members lawn. More seats (85%) will be undercover, marking a significant improvement on the existing stands.
